A Novelist, Finally.

This is a long overdue post. So much so, it should have been written last year around this time cause that was when my debut novel ‘Eksperimen Cinta’ hit the local bookshelves. But me being me, others always get more excited than I am about the things I do. Thus, I got carried away with work and writing my second novel instead of spending 15 minutes to write a blogpost to announce to the world that I am finally a published novelist.

Yes, my dream has come true. Sometimes when I sit back on my bed and look out the window, I still cannot believe it is true. Even with my published novel copies staring back at me from my bookshelves, I still find it surreal that I’ve written a novel that has sold more than 1,700 copies since its launch. And it’s a Malay novel!

Even more surreal is the experience of receiving emails from readers, getting in touch with writer wanna-bes, giving talks about writing a novel, mentoring 2 potential writers and meeting up with fans. Yes, I have fans! Can you believe it?! I remember having to practice my pseudo autograph so that it looks good in the green pen I bought exclusively for occasions as such. Sometimes, I make a mistake and sign my actual name.

Anyway, one year is almost gone since my first book launch. To my own surprise, I actually wrote another novel this year and it will be out in the local market in September. With two novels up my belt and I still keep forgetting that I’m a novelist, I deserve a smack from friends who believe in me. Anyhow, here’s introducing the two novels that will be available on local bookshelves by next month.

Eksperimen Cinta was written under the pseudo Geena Edora and published by KarnaDya, the very first publisher I approached and they bought the story idea. I was grateful to be published by them, as it was the stepping-stone for me to enter the local publishing scene. This novel is available for purchase at MPH bookstores, Popular bookstores and others. Also available for online purchase at their website (click here) and in ebook format too!

Ngeri will be hitting the market in September 2011. It is published by Fixi, a publishing label that focuses on pulp fiction stories. It is also my very firsthand of writing a thriller crime story. A very challenging experience indeed. This novel will be available in MPH bookstores, Kinokuniya and many others. Also available for online purchase at their website (click here) and Amazon.

I believe there will be more to come. Why? Cause I’m already working on my third story and it’s turning into a whirlwind on my desktop. And I’m considering translating the above ‘Ngeri’ into an English version, exclusively for my friends who cannot read Malay.

This is the thing about dreams: You have got to be bold enough to dream, run after the dreams, achieve them, and then dream all over again. So I am now a published novelist, a dream came true, but it’s not going to stop there. There is always a next level to achieve, and I’m working towards getting there.
