Choose to Grow
They think that I have lost my cheer,
That I smiled lesser and drank more beer,
That I am no longer the innocent gal,
They once held on so very dear.
I think they forgot that I’m no longer a child,
The baby they used to toddle has not gone wild,
But grew up to be matured in her own style,
Determined to be successful, not at all dull.
They think that I’ve gone to the other side,
That I’ve joined the money pursuer’s ride,
That all I see is me, myself and pride,
Lost in the game of success worldwide.
I think they are just turning green,
That my dreams are no longer lean,
Living my life the way it has never been,
Focusing on myself doesn’t make me mean.
It doesn’t matter what they think of me,
Of my thinking process or lack of maturity,
That all my inmost intentions they fail to see,
But the many perceptions they formed of me.
Cause I am not holding back, I choose to grow,
I want to step ahead, strong and bold,
To discover the person inside of this mould,
To own an identity, to master my very soul.

Grow as a person when you need to. Don’t hold back because of the crowd in your life. Everyone needs to grow every single day; and growth bring changes. Only true friends will stand by you in the midst of your growing stage to be a better person for tomorrow. You’ve got to love yourself first before loving others so that you can grow as a person and feel proud of the person you are. That’s how I grow. I’ve lost friends because I wanted to grow as a person, but I’ve gained so much more of myself as an individual – I became a person of identity. And a person of identity will draw people who truly love you to you.
