I’m a big supporter of the local production scene. I’ve been in the cinema watching local productions on my own and the hall is always 80% empty. Lesser people means more privacy, and I get to laugh out loud without someone throwing a popcorn at me to shut up. However, that wasn’t the case with Ice-Kacang Puppy Love. The cinema hall was 90% filled with excited people who want to catch a glimpse of their superstars on the golden screen. Guess that’s the power of having famous superstar on-board. Good strategy, Ah Niu, your famous friends really did pull in the crowd – and you did a great job to prove that the movie was indeed a worthwhile masterpiece.

Starring Ah Niu (himself) with Angelica Lee Sin Jie, Gary Chaw and Victor Wong, Ice-Kacang Puppy Love tells of a first love story that has proven to be a very strong love to begin with. It might have been coined as just another puppy love but one could feel the genuine bond shared between two hearts through this movie. The emotion manifested from deep inside is so heartwarming and tender, strong yet gentle, that you may begin to wonder if one could ever experience a love this strong. For capturing this emotion so beautifully, Ah Niu certainly has proved himself to be an up-coming film director who will bring into the industry many more great movies such as this.
