The 5-Minute Concept
No time for your loved ones? No time for the ones you love so dear? No time for people whom you want to spend time with? No time to show that you care even through an SMS? No time to even send a short email or a short 2-minute call? NO TIME – the worst excuse everyone has been giving me! I term that excuse as crap! If you have the heart for it, time will come. If you go after it, life will grant you time. If you really want it, you will find the time for it!
Let me introduce to you my 5-minutes concept. It’s all about spending 5 minutes a day for someone. And 5 minutes only equals to 0.003% of a day. Can you believe that? To think that we can’t spend 0.003% of a day for the people we love, what a ridiculous thought. For those of you who are thinking that 5 minutes is still too much, you are hopeless! Reasons being… read on!
What can you do in 5 minutes?
- Create a SMS or two to be sent out to people to remind them that you have them in your thoughts in the midst of your busyness
- Call a friend to ask how’s his/her day, letting him/her know that you care
- Say a prayer for a friend or loved ones
- Type an email to tell your loved ones that you care and will always be there
- Keep in touch with people whom are away through short letters
- Send an E-card to your friends
And for goodness sake, forwarded emails are not included in this concept. It just spoils the whole purpose of it. The whole purpose of this 5-minutes concept is to be able to spend 5 minutes on someone a day, with personalized message so that the other person will feel that you care for them and love them, thinking of them despite your busy life, and not just forwarding junks to them all day long. People crave for personalized things from you, to make themselves feel special and being loved. They don’t need a general message from you, they need something that would make them feel that they are special in your heart.
Where to get the 5 minutes?
- 5 minutes before you sleep
- 5 minutes before you start work
- 5 minutes of your lunch hour
- 5 minutes of play time
- 5 minutes of your meal time
- 5 minutes of before you drive the car to work
- 5 minutes when you are walking home
- even the 5 minutes you spend waiting for bus, at the washroom or watching the commercials during your favourite drama
So 5 minutes isn’t hard to find, is it? I thought so! Why not start today? Apply this concept in your daily life, sit back and watch the changes that your loved ones/friends will find in you. I can guarantee that friendships and bonds will be strengthened. Be sure to note that 5 minutes a day can be spent on different people, blessing as many people as you can as the days pass by. All it takes is 5 minutes to show that you care and if you can’t do it, who can?!
