The Chosen Walk
I never felt this way,
Not in a million years.
The feeling of wanting to be away,
To run away from my fears.
Reality is too hard to face,
I’m not sure I feel secure.
I tried running this race,
But there’s too much in store.
How much can a person cry?
How much can a person crawl?
I wished I was lifted high,
I wished I’ve broken the wall.
But I soon came to realized what really counts,
It’s not my feelings inside, it’s the route I walked.
Life has its own leaps and bounds,
And I’m gonna enjoy this chosen walk.

Life is so challenging at this moment, you could hardly breathe. The stones people throw at you, the edge of blade against your neck – you feel pressured and tempted to chuck it all aside, but you know you can’t just let go. You tried to inhale deeply, but the air is too thin. You tried to crawl out of the terror, but the chain locks you within. Attempts after attempts, you labelled yourself ‘failure’ and willingly let yourself fall deep into the pit.
If that is you, here’s something I’ve learnt from the past. If there is darkness, there has to be light. If there is misery, there has to be joy. If there are tears, there have to be smiles. So when you fall, there has to be something to hold onto that would bring you to your feet and help you stand taller than before. How do I know? Because I’ve fallen deeper than you thought but here I stand, right in front of you, to prove that our life is not determined by the paths laid before us, but through the walk that starts from the first point till the very last. Never blame the path for how you feel, rather take control of your strides and enjoy the walk. It’s your chosen walk.
