You’re A Homosexual!
“Um… No offense, but may I ask if you’re a homosexual?” one of my best friend asked me one day. It wasn’t the first time my friends had asked me such a question and I was always more than pleased to give them an answer. I’ve been really close to some of my buddies for the past few years, some even thought we were sisters. We were always together, having lots of fun, sharing great moments and loving each other with deep sisterly love. But many have came to misunderstand us as homosexuals. And because of this reason, many great friendships have lost its potentials in being an enjoyable one for me and my friends.
I believe that God has made every one of us unique and different, thus giving us different attraction of gifts. Our attraction gift is as unique as our thumbprint, each differs from one another. We are attracted to different things from different lifestyles to types of cars, even people. Therefore, we are never attracted to the same people. If we were all attracted to the same person, what a chaos it will be. Millions of people will be lonely with no one to be attached to, and those handful of popular ones will be busy fending others off.
God designed us to have really close friends of the same sex as well as the opposite sex. My most affectionate friendship is shared with a female. Do I then consider myself a homosexual? Absolutely not! Am I beginning to become one? Of course not! God designed me to be attracted to the same sex, as well as the opposite sex. And I believe that He designed everyone else just the same. He wants us to be able to enjoy the friendships that He has sent our way. My attraction to the same sex individuals can be deeply enjoyed without assuming any sexual/romance possibilities.
It’s so sad to see the society today becoming so sensitive to same-sex relationships. It has frightened and stopped many people from enjoying the relationships which God has in plan for us. People become afraid to build mutual relationship with individuals of the same sex, thinking that they will be titled ‘homosexuals’ has allowed the devil to rob them of the blessings of friendships. Just how sad can that be?…
I’m not going to let the society’s attitude and thinking stop me from enjoying the friendships that God has in store for me. I believe that He has designed us in special ways that enable us to have close friends, even of the same sex, to share and encourage one another in our walk with Him. It’s the fulfilling of the relationships that God has in store for us that truly matters. Don’t let the confusion of the society robs us from enjoying the many wonderful relationships that God has in store for us.
